# Memberships

> Create and manage memberships (membership plans) for long-term or recurring access without a dedicated resource rental

Memberships are access options or bundles of services that customers can subscribe to, usually on a long-term or recurring basis. Common examples in coworking spaces include Hot desk unlimited, Hot desk (10 days per month), or Flex membership.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Memberships are designed for subscriptions which don't involve a dedicated resource rental — for example, a hot desk membership, a flex membership with 10 days per month, a membership with credits, or a virtual office membership. Rentals of a dedicated resource, such as a dedicated desk or a private office, are [set up inside that resource](https://www.spacebring.com/docs/guides/organize-your-memberships-and-rental-plans.md) instead.

With memberships, you can:

* Structure and present your membership options to customers
* Let customers sign up instantly or submit applications
* Quickly set up new customers for subscriptions, using memberships as templates.

### Sign-up setting

| Setting | Outcome |
| :- | :- |
| Enable with **Immediate** type | Customers can see this membership and [sign up immediately](https://www.spacebring.com/docs/catalog/memberships/immediate-sign-ups.md#how-users-sign-up-for-memberships) without admin involvement. |
| Enable with **Request** type | Customers can see this membership and [submit a request](https://www.spacebring.com/docs/catalog/memberships/applications.md#how-users-apply-for-a-membership) to sign up. Administrators process requests as support tickets. <ul><li>Useful if you don't allow new customers to become your members independently.</li></ul> |
| Disable **Sign-up** | Customers do not see this membership. It stays visible only to administrators for [creating subscriptions](https://www.spacebring.com/docs/billing/subscriptions.md). |

* [**Access**](https://www.spacebring.com/docs/integrations/access-control.md) — access control group. *Appears if you have the [integration with the access control system](https://www.spacebring.com/docs/integrations/access-control.md).*
* [**Printing**](https://www.spacebring.com/docs/integrations/printing/ezeep-blue.md) — printing access group.

3. Tap **Save**.

## What's next

After creating your memberships:

* Customers can explore available memberships and [sign up](https://www.spacebring.com/docs/catalog/memberships/immediate-sign-ups.md) or [submit requests](https://www.spacebring.com/docs/catalog/memberships/applications.md), depending on your settings

![Memberships page of a location in the member web portal on Spacebring's coworking space management platform](https://mintcdn.com/spacebring/2b6osWtaz7k-8cpi/images/catalog-plans-2.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=2b6osWtaz7k-8cpi\&q=85\&s=49e85ea35a5c1eca9ec5524069261950)

* Administrators can quickly [set up new members for subscriptions](https://www.spacebring.com/docs/billing/subscriptions.md), using memberships as ready-made templates with predefined pricing, benefits, and access.

## Edit or delete a membership

1. Go to **Catalog** > **Memberships**.
2. Press the menu button **(...)** next to the preliminary [created membership](https://www.spacebring.com/docs/catalog/memberships.md) and tap **Edit** or **Delete**.

![Membership row menu with Edit and Delete on Spacebring's coworking space management platform](https://mintcdn.com/spacebring/roPo2g6xmhFwOi-M/images/catalog-plans-4.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=roPo2g6xmhFwOi-M\&q=85\&s=e33b4610cbaadd044d787c564b90cc5e)

> [!NOTE]
>
> Deleting a membership does not affect active subscriptions. If your members still have this membership selected in their subscription, it will continue to function for them.

> [!WARNING]
>
> Deleting a membership is irreversible and cannot be undone. Instead of completely deleting a membership, you can [disable the **Sign up**](https://www.spacebring.com/docs/catalog/memberships.md) property to hide the membership from customers and make it impossible for them to purchase it by themselves. Meanwhile, administrators will still be able to choose this membership for creating subscriptions manually.

> [!TIP]
>
> To act on several memberships at once, select their checkboxes, then press **Actions** at the bottom of the page and choose **Sign-up** or **Delete**. Free memberships keep their [sign-up setting](#sign-up-setting) when you choose **Immediate**. To quickly select several or all items in a long list, select a checkbox, then hold **Shift** and select another checkbox to select every row between them.

## Filter memberships

On the **Memberships** page, click **Add filter** > **Sign-up** and pick how customers can sign up:

* **Immediate** — memberships customers [buy on their own](https://www.spacebring.com/docs/catalog/memberships/immediate-sign-ups.md).
* **Request** — memberships customers [apply for](https://www.spacebring.com/docs/catalog/memberships/applications.md).
* **Off** — memberships customers don't see.

You can pick several values in one filter.

## Export a memberships report

On the **Memberships** page, apply the necessary filters, then click **(...)** in the top right corner > **Export memberships** > **CSV** or **XLSX** to download a report on the filtered memberships.

![Export memberships options in the Memberships page menu on Spacebring's coworking space management platform](https://mintcdn.com/spacebring/roPo2g6xmhFwOi-M/images/catalog-plans-export-a-plans-report.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=roPo2g6xmhFwOi-M\&q=85\&s=ae707ae06056400aa64d3cd8a3af7d71)

The report includes each membership's title, price and currency, billing period, and minimum commitment in cycles, the number of credits and day passes it grants per cycle, and its create date.

## FAQs

> [accordion] Why don't customers see my membership?
>
> Check that **Sign-up** is enabled in the membership's settings — it is the only setting that controls whether customers see a membership, as memberships have no **Visibility** setting of their own. Customers without a subscription then find the membership behind the **Sign up** button, and those who already have one [subscribe from the **Membership** > **Billing** page](https://www.spacebring.com/docs/catalog/memberships/immediate-sign-ups.md#sign-up-for-multiple-memberships).
>
> A plan that rents out a specific desk or office is a [rental plan](https://www.spacebring.com/docs/guides/organize-your-memberships-and-rental-plans.md) created inside that resource, and it never appears under the **Sign up** button. Customers find it on the page of the resource it belongs to — **Desks**, **Offices**, or another resource page — and the [resource's **Visibility**](https://www.spacebring.com/docs/location/visibility.md) decides who sees it there.

>
> Start [creating the subscription](https://www.spacebring.com/docs/billing/subscriptions.md) for your customer, keep **Custom** in the **Product** field, and manually type the membership name, price, and other allowances.

> [accordion] How can I copy the link to all public memberships?
>
> Go to **Catalog** > **Memberships** > press the menu **(...)** top right > **Copy link to all public memberships**.
>
> ![Copy link to all public memberships in the Memberships page menu on Spacebring's coworking space management platform](https://mintcdn.com/spacebring/roPo2g6xmhFwOi-M/images/catalog-plans-3.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=roPo2g6xmhFwOi-M\&q=85\&s=ee33956a7cd9459760e6926960c13b85)

> [accordion] Can I offer discounts for memberships?
>
> To offer targeted discounts on specific memberships/for selected customers, create [coupons and promo codes](https://www.spacebring.com/docs/catalog/discounts.md#create-promo-codes) of **Subscription items** type. [Apply them](https://www.spacebring.com/docs/catalog/discounts/give-and-apply.md#discount-the-subscription-price) directly when creating subscriptions for users and companies, or share the [promo code](https://www.spacebring.com/docs/catalog/discounts.md#create-promo-codes) with customers to redeem the discount on their own when they sign up.

> [accordion] How to offer a package of hours for booking rooms?
>
> It depends on whom you sell it to:
>
> * If all customers, including nonmembers, should see and buy it, [create a membership](#set-up-memberships) with credits and turn on **Sign-up**. Customers subscribe and receive a set number of expiring credits each cycle. The membership can also give them access to the space, discounts, and other perks.
> * If only members should buy it, as a one-off purchase of credits with nothing else included, [create a credit package](https://www.spacebring.com/docs/catalog/packages.md). Members can buy it at any time, with or without a subscription.

> [accordion] Do changes to the membership affect existing members' subscriptions?
>
> Changes to the membership only apply to new future subscriptions and those exiting members that have **Auto-update from membership** enabled in their subscription.
>
> To apply membership changes to existing members, you have two options:
>
> * [Edit their subscriptions](https://www.spacebring.com/docs/billing/subscriptions/edit.md) individually and apply changes manually, or
> * Turn on **Auto-update from membership** in existing customers' subscriptions > then make a change to the membership. This way, it will automatically apply to existing members, too.

> [accordion] How to raise the price for all customers who are subscribed to the membership?
>
> Ensure the [**Auto-update from membership** setting is enabled](https://www.spacebring.com/docs/billing/subscriptions/edit.md) in all your customers' active subscriptions who have that membership. Then, edit the membership as needed.
>
> * Any changes made to pricing, credits, or day passes will apply automatically to their subscriptions with the start of the next billing cycle.
> * Changes to discounts, door access, and exclusive access to resources and benefits apply immediately.

> [accordion] How are memberships ordered for customers?
>
> In the member web portal and mobile app, memberships are sorted by billing cycle from shortest to longest—Week, Month, 3 months, 6 months, then Year—and memberships with the same cycle are sorted by price from lowest to highest.
