# User roles

> Understand the difference between key user roles in Spacebring: owner, administrator, member, nonmember, company manager, and company member

Users can have different roles based on their permissions and activities within the platform. The user's role defines what exactly this user can see and manage in the member web portal, mobile app, and Spacebring.

A user has either an operator role, taking charge of the location or network, or a consumer role, using your space services. Roles also affect what users see about each other — [understand visibility](/docs/location/visibility).

## Operator roles

**[Owner](/docs/administration/owners):** full edit rights at the network level. Responsible for managing the entire network and subscription with Spacebring.

**[Administrator](/docs/administration/administrators):** full or partial edit rights at the location level. Responsible for managing a specific location.

## Consumer roles

**[Member](/docs/customer-management/users/members):** customers of your space who have access to the members-only parts of the app and pay you for using your services on a regular basis.

**[Nonmember](/docs/customer-management/users/nonmembers):** occasional customers of your space who arrive for one-off bookings or other services or have been your members in the past.

Members can also be grouped into companies, where they get one of two additional roles. Both are consumer roles and neither gives any rights in Spacebring — unlike an administrator, who manages the location.

**[Company manager](/docs/customer-management/companies/members-and-managers#who-is-a-company-manager):** a company member who can also access the company's billing and subscription, and manage other users in the company.

**[Company member](/docs/customer-management/companies/members-and-managers#who-is-a-company-member):** a member who belongs to a company and shares its subscription perks, but has no access to company billing.

<Accordion title="What is a difference between member and nonmember?">
  A member is a user who belongs to the community of a specific location and can access its member-only features and resources. Members have active subscriptions and access credits, day passes, and view all content within the member web portal and mobile app with **Location members** visibility and higher.

  A nonmember is a former member or a user who has made at least one booking, purchase, or order in the location, joined an event, or applied for a benefit.
